Venture capital company Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) presented a project called AI Town. This is a modular platform that is designed to help developers create their own solutions based on AI.

The authors took the joint work of Google Corporation and Stanford University as the basis of the project. Its essence is to create a programmable environment filled with non-player characters (NPCs) based on AI.

AI Town is a highly customizable and scalable platform. The project is open source. A demo version of the "virtual city" can be viewed on the official website of the portfolio organization a16z Convex Dev.

According to the project white paper, AI Town uses the Convex serverless infrastructure. Authentication is done through Clerk, and text generation through OpenAI.

The platform is a "microverse" with a ready-made set of modules. It includes many characters under AI control.

They interact and communicate with each other almost like real players, which creates a rich field for the formation of social constructs, according to CryptoSlate.

The foundations of personality, the model of behavior and communication are laid during generation by means of a special template. All characters retain a history of relationships, which makes their reactions even more lively, noted in a16z.

The developers emphasized that they encourage the community to create new projects based on AI Town. The authors believe that this platform will spur further development of the sector.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has expressed interest in AI. Agency chairman Gary Gensler noted that the technology carries certain risks, and the task of the agency is to minimize them through regulation.
