Changpeng Zhao, founder of the crypto exchange Binance, known in the crypto community as CZ, announced the launch of a new event prediction platform called Predict.fun. The project operates on the BNB Chain blockchain and is aimed at users who want to simultaneously bet on event outcomes and earn income from locked assets.
According to CZ, the service was developed by a former Binance employee. The project received financial backing from venture capital firm Yzi Labs, formerly known as Binance Labs. The key feature of Predict.fun is that users not only place bets but can also earn on their funds for as long as the prediction remains active.
The platform is currently in its early stages of development, but is already showing some activity. According to industry journalists, Predict.fun currently offers two markets, with the total volume of bets approaching $300,000. The total number of registered users has already exceeded 12,000, a significant figure for a new project.
Despite this, Predict.fun still lags significantly behind the largest forecast market players. For comparison, Polymarket's trading volume is estimated at over $3 billion, Kalshi's is approximately $587 million, and Limitless's exceeds $10.9 million. These figures highlight the long road ahead for the new product to achieve comparable scale.
An additional challenge for Predict.fun remains competition in the area of user incentives. Many established platforms actively employ various retention mechanisms, including staking programs, treasury bonuses, point systems, and other incentives. These tools partially offset the inconvenience associated with long-term locking of funds during open bets. It is currently unknown whether the Predict.fun team plans to implement similar solutions in the future.
The project's launch comes amid growing interest in prediction markets in the crypto industry. The Trust Wallet team previously announced its own product in this segment, confirming the general trend toward the development of such services. Users are increasingly considering prediction platforms as an alternative way to interact with digital assets and sources of income.
Therefore, Predict.fun's entry into the market can be seen as another step in expanding the ecosystem of services based on BNB Chain. Despite modest performance compared to industry leaders, the project has already attracted a significant number of users and generated initial trading volumes. It will soon become clear whether the new platform can strengthen its position and offer competitive conditions to its audience in a highly competitive market.
