Netflix to Produce Comedy Film About Lost Access to $35 Million Crypto Wallet

Streaming giant Netflix has launched production on a comedy film centered on the attempt to regain access to a crypto wallet containing approximately $35 million in assets. The project is inspired by real-life challenges faced by digital asset owners and humorously depicts the consequences of losing passwords and private keys.
Titled "One Attempt Remaining," the film will center on the story of a divorced couple. Years after a difficult separation, the ex-spouses unexpectedly discover that the cryptocurrency they acquired through chance has skyrocketed in value. What once seemed like an insignificant incident turns into a life-changing opportunity.
However, their joy quickly gives way to panic: access to the wallet is lost due to a forgotten password. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the characters have a very limited time to regain control of their funds. According to the plot, after receiving an official notice from the US Securities and Exchange Commission, they have only 48 hours left before the deadline, after which the assets could be declared unclaimed.
Jennifer Garner will play a key role in the film, and Kay Cannon, a former comedian, will direct the project. The creators promise a light and dynamic tone, while still addressing serious themes such as the responsibility for the safekeeping of digital assets and the irreversibility of mistakes in the crypto industry.
The film's plot highlights a fundamental feature of cryptocurrencies: losing access to a wallet often means the permanent loss of funds. Unlike traditional banking systems, where recovery procedures are possible, in the blockchain world, a forgotten password or lost key can permanently lock out access to assets, regardless of their value.
The story depicted in the film echoes real-life cases in the industry. The most famous example is that of former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas, who lost access to thousands of bitcoins after forgetting the password to an encrypted storage device with a limited number of login attempts. Such incidents have become emblematic of both the financial opportunities and risks associated with cryptocurrency.
While digital assets have featured in documentaries and news reports, they have rarely been the focus of feature films. In the new film, Netflix focuses not on the technology per se, but on the human factor—the emotions, conflicts, and decisions that can lead to success or the complete loss of a multi-million dollar fortune.
