Web3 is a dark horse
Respondents to a joint survey by analytics platform YouGov and blockchain firm Consensys showed little awareness of the concept of Web3. Despite the fact that more than 90% have heard of cryptocurrencies, only 8% said they have a good understanding of the concept of the third generation of the Internet. A little less than a third of respondents are more or less knowledgeable about Web3.

Consensys believes that the awareness gap highlights the mismatch between public perception of Web3 and its potential to address issues related to privacy, identity, and digital property online.

"Future money" or "form of ownership"
On a global scale, the majority of respondents associate cryptocurrency with the "future of cash," Consensys notes. Just over a third of respondents compared cryptocurrency to a "digital form of ownership" and only 8% of the 15,000 respondents around the world associate cryptocurrency with crime.

Only 1% of respondents associated cryptocurrency with an art form. Consensys believes that these results are due to a general ignorance of the concept

According to Consensys, the majority of respondents said they did not understand NFTs. Digital collectible tokens are best known in the United States, India, and South Africa. At the same time, South America, Europe, and Japan are the least aware of NFTs.

Most crypto skeptics live in Europe (Germany and France). In these countries, more often than in other regions, the negative aspects of cryptocurrencies were indicated in the first place.
