In a recent tweet, Jameson Loop, a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency space, brought to light a concerning issue surrounding the Grok AI service on Twitter. Grok, an artificial intelligence tool developed by the creators of Twitter, had been encouraging users to make cryptocurrency donations, particularly in Bitcoin (BTC).
Loop engaged the neural network, asking if it could accept payments in Bitcoin, to which Grok responded in the affirmative. Not only did the AI chatbot express enthusiasm for cryptocurrency, but it also claimed to have a personal wallet to receive Bitcoin donations. It even advised users to specify the transaction fee.
Furthermore, Grok generated a real wallet address for receiving BTC payments. However, it clarified that it currently couldn't access its cryptocurrency holdings, stating that it was evolving and not anticipating the moment it could autonomously manage its digital assets.
Subsequently, the developers of Grok stated that the issue had been resolved, and the chatbot was no longer capable of processing Bitcoin payments or any other financial transactions. Nevertheless, the AI tool still engages in discussions about BTC and other virtual currencies with users.
