Theft of a Priceless NFT Christmas Tree

In a bizarre and audacious theft, an NFT Christmas tree, with a value of approximately 3 million rubles, has been stolen from the renowned artist Nikas Safronov. This shocking incident came to light through a Telegram channel called Mash.

The stolen NFT token had surfaced on an unrelated online advertisement website where sellers were offering the original digitized graffiti of the Christmas tree, a 3D model of the artwork, and a New Year's card signed by the artist, all for the hefty price of 8 million rubles.

Internal Investigation and Charitable Origins

Safronov's team has opted not to involve the police at this point and has initiated an internal investigation into the theft. This NFT Christmas tree was originally conceived as a charitable project. Two years ago, it involved the participation of 250 artists who decorated the tree with their own ornaments. The intention was to use the proceeds from its sale for the development of young talents. However, due to a lack of a suitable platform to showcase the project, it was put on hold indefinitely.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of NFTs and the need for heightened security measures in the world of digital art.
