The Ethereum Foundation has made a significant announcement regarding the Dencun upgrade, bringing more excitement to the Ethereum community. The update, which includes the highly anticipated proto-danksharding (EIP-4844), will be deployed in the test networks Sepolia and Holesky.
Previously, the Dencun hard fork was launched in the Goerli testnet, but now it is set to expand its presence in the crypto ecosystem. According to Tim Beiko, a representative of the Ethereum Foundation, Dencun will be activated on Sepolia on January 30 and on Holesky on February 7.
Beiko encouraged node operators within these networks to update their software promptly. He also added, "Assuming both of these go smoothly, mainnet is next," hinting at the possibility of the upgrade eventually rolling out on the Ethereum mainnet.
This development follows the successful deployment of the Dencun upgrade in the Goerli test network on January 17, showcasing Ethereum's commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in the blockchain space. Ethereum enthusiasts and developers eagerly anticipate the next steps in the journey towards a more efficient and scalable Ethereum network.
