As of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $46,943, according to TradingView. At its peak, Bitcoin's price reached $47,019. Ethereum is currently trading at $2,503. Both cryptocurrencies saw substantial increases in dominance and the fear and greed index.
Bitcoin's dominance approached its highest point since January 2024 amid this surge. Futures contract liquidations in the cryptocurrency market exceeded $134 million, with nearly $100 million on short positions.
Following Bitcoin's upward movement, all top-10 assets by market capitalization experienced growth, according to CryptoRank. The fear and greed index remained unchanged, with a six-point increase from February 8th to 9th, 2024.
Earlier forecasts by Bernstein experts suggested potential stock increases for Bitcoin miners ahead of the halving event.
