Bitcoin: A Game Changer

During the Bitcoin Atlantis conference on Madeira Island, Jack Mallers, the CEO of Zap, a company behind the payment service Strike, made a bold statement about Bitcoin. He asserted that Bitcoin stands as the most solid form of money ever created. Mallers emphasized Bitcoin's distinctive features, including its limited supply of 21 million coins and its predetermined issuance schedule.

Comparing Bitcoin to Gold and Fiat Currency

Mallers highlighted the differences between Bitcoin, gold, and fiat currencies. While both Bitcoin and gold have finite supplies, he noted that one could potentially discover more gold through extensive mining efforts. In contrast, Bitcoin's issuance is programmatically set from its inception, ensuring a fixed supply. Mallers argued that this rigid issuance schedule serves as a primary driver for Bitcoin's value appreciation.

Bitcoin's Decentralized Clocks

Mallers attributed Bitcoin's superiority over gold to Satoshi Nakamoto's decentralized clocks. He humorously suggested that to acquire more Bitcoin, one would need to learn time travel, implying the impossibility of altering Bitcoin's issuance rate. This, according to Mallers, explains why Bitcoin is currently trading at around $60,000 per coin.

Advocating Bitcoin as a Payment Network

In addition to praising Bitcoin's monetary properties, Mallers has previously advocated for its use as a payment network to facilitate faster and more economical transactions. His endorsement of Bitcoin's utility extends to educating others about its potential, as seen in his appearance on Lily's Show in 2022, where he explained Bitcoin to the show's four-year-old host.
