Users of a trading bot in the Telegram messenger called Solareum, designed to make transactions with Solana (SOL) cryptocurrencies, faced huge losses of $523,000.
Hacker attack and consequences
At the end of last week, there was a serious leak of private keys from crypto wallets on the Solana network. This allowed the attackers to steal digital assets worth more than half a million dollars from more than 300 people. Initially, it was suspected that hackers were able to hack the Telegram bot BONKbot, but on March 29, Solareum representatives announced a possible exploit.
Closing of the Solareum project
With great regret, the Solareum team announced the closure of the project. As a result of insufficient funding and the latest cyber attack, they were forced to make this difficult decision. Representatives of the project announced their intention to contact law enforcement agencies to freeze stolen digital assets on centralized exchanges.
Liability and customer losses
The Solareum team did not mention possible compensation for losses to its clients as a result of the hacker attack. Instead, they only promised to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident. Some users, remaining dissatisfied, threaten to sue if the stolen funds are not returned to them.
