A New Type of Cryptocurrency Scam: What Happened in India

One such scam involved a young Pune resident who lost $3,000 after applying for a job through social media.
How the scam happens
According to the victim, he was contacted by a potential employer who offered him a vacancy as a designer in a company developing web3 applications. Communication continued through the Discord service, and when he became interested in the offer, he was offered an online interview.
It later turned out that the link for the online interview was a disguise for a malicious program, through which the scammers managed to gain access to the investor’s assets on the Kamino Finance DeFi platform based on Solana.
Law enforcement response
Indian law enforcement agencies are currently investigating this incident, which is part of a larger scam similar to what happened in South Korea, where crypto investors lost more than $4.1 million.
