The Worldcoin team has announced the release of two updates to its World ID identification protocol, which are aimed at strengthening the security of user data and ensuring that the platform is accessible only to those over 18 years of age.
New Features for Users
Users can now cancel World ID verification by removing the iris code. This is supposed to give users more control over their personal data. After requesting deletion, the user will have six months to reconsider their decision, after which the data will be permanently deleted.
Cooperation and Trust
The update was developed jointly with third-party privacy and security experts, including the Bavarian State Data Protection Authority (BayLDA), which is the main supervisory authority for Worldcoin in the European Union.
Strict Age Verification
The second update provides for thorough age verification of persons intending to undergo identity verification. Staff will conduct additional screening before entering the iris scanning area.
Response Evaluation and Project Development
Despite the mixed reaction from the community, Worldcoin continues to develop. The firm's CEO, Sam Altman, previously stated the project's goals are to create a unified financial network and identification platform. The new updates aim to improve security and control for all users of the platform.
