Operation "Disclosure": Energy workers discovered and suspended the activities of four cryptocurrency mining farms in Novosibirsk

When checking electricity consumption in Novosibirsk, specialists from the Rosseti Novosibirsk company identified several cryptocurrency mining farms located in different parts of the city.
After detection, during a joint raid with police officers, energy workers discovered more than 3,000 mining devices on four farms. It is estimated that because of these farms, Rosseti Novosibirsk suffered damage in the amount of more than 197 million rubles.
The owner of the farm has already been arrested, and criminal prosecution has been launched against him. In addition to mining equipment, transformers and other devices were also found on him.
Combating Illegal Activities
Representatives of the company announced their intention to continue the fight against illegal connection to power grids for cryptocurrency mining. They encourage city residents to report such cases and promise a reward for the information provided.
Despite the lack of legislation in the field of cryptocurrency mining, the situation with illegal farms continues to develop. The head of the State Duma working group on regulation of cryptocurrencies expressed the need to begin regulation with Bitcoin mining, emphasizing the importance of taking appropriate measures.
