The rise of crypto ATMs in Australia
According to Coin ATM Radar, the number of crypto ATMs in Australia has exceeded 1,000, reaching 1,007 devices by April 24, 2024. This rise began thanks to the participation of private companies, and until 2022 the number of crypto ATMs in the country remained low.
Growth prospects
In April 2023, Australia surpassed several major countries in the number of crypto ATMs, including China, Japan, India and Singapore. Experts believe that if this growth rate continues, Australia could surpass Europe, where there are 1,617 crypto ATMs.
Global distribution of crypto ATMs
The United States ranks first in terms of the number of crypto ATMs, with 31,170 devices installed, which is 82.8% of the total number of crypto ATMs. Canada follows with 2,918 locations.
World trends
Spain and El Salvador also have a significant presence of crypto ATMs, with 261 and 215 devices respectively.
In November 2023, Athena Bitcoin announced plans to integrate the Lightning Network into El Salvador's ATM network, which could make cryptocurrency transactions even more accessible and efficient.
