Popular platform TikTok is introducing labeling for images and videos created by third-party artificial intelligence algorithms, breaking new ground in content transparency.
Support for Third Party AI Tools
TikTok now flags not only content generated by its own algorithms, but also content generated by other companies' algorithms, such as OpenAI's DALL-E 3.
The platform uses content credentials technology, allowing metadata to be assigned with information about the owner and how the content was created, providing unique transparency for users.
Gradual Implementation
The first phase involves automatically tagging uploads of AI-generated content, followed by the addition of detailed tags to content created using TikTok's AI tools.
The changes came into effect on May 9, 2024, and will roll out to all users over the next few weeks, with further steps to follow in the coming months.
These improvements will allow TikTok users to better understand the origins of content and increase trust in the platform, opening up new perspectives for content creation and consumption in the future.
