Solana Labs figured out how to lure game developers to Web3

The new tool stimulates the transition of game development to Web3 technologies, and at the same time revives sluggish activity on the Solana blockchain
Game creators are in no hurry to implement Web3 technologies in their projects. They lack a unified development environment, compatible tools, and the ability to integrate Web3 elements into existing projects.

What the developers of Solana came up with
To solve this problem, Solana Labs came up with GameShift. This is a unified API for developing games based on web3 technologies. Through it, you can access various web components that can be easily modified, combined and embedded in projects.

The creators of GameShift promise that this API will reduce the time to create web3 games. In addition, developers will be able to update their web2 projects and improve the gaming experience of users without much effort.
"Web3 game developers need innovative technologies that will simplify and speed up the process of creating games. That's what GameShift is for," said Tal Tchwella, Head of Product at Solana Labs. "GameShift will be a versatile tool for Solana developers to help them build games faster and more confidently."
The release of GameShift is scheduled for the end of the year, but for now, everyone can sign up for a waiting list.
Blockchain games on Solana
According to DappRadar, about 40 gaming projects have been created on the Solana blockchain, but none of them can yet boast of viable gaming activity. The most promising project in terms of user activity is Genopets. About 6000 addresses interact with the game every day.
For comparison, the top Web3 game, Alien Worlds, has more than 200,000 users every day. They make about 12 million transactions, and the amount of funds blocked in the game is approaching $1.5 million.
