The BNB Chain development team has announced the successful launch of the Maxwell hard fork, which has dramatically accelerated the network. After the upgrade, the average interval between blocks has decreased from 1.5 seconds to only 0.75 seconds, making the network one of the fastest among large blockchains. Earlier, in April, the developers had already reduced the interval from three seconds to one and a half seconds by implementing the Lorentz upgrade. The positive effect of that optimization inspired the team to further improve the network.

The main technical innovation of Maxwell was the implementation of the BEP-524 proposal. Thanks to it, blockchain applications now work more quickly, and DeFi and GameFi users can count on a smoother and more stable user experience. The implementation of BEP-524 is also aimed at increasing the responsiveness of smart contracts and reducing delays when interacting with distributed applications.

In addition to BEP-524, two more proposals were used as part of the hard fork - BEP-563 and BEP-564. BEP-563 is aimed at optimizing processes within the validator network. In particular, it speeds up the transfer of block data between participants and minimizes the likelihood of losing votes when confirming transactions. This reduces synchronization delays and increases the overall stability of the network.

BEP-564, in turn, added support for new message types, which allows processing multiple blocks in a single call. This feature is especially important for complex scenarios of interaction with the blockchain, where high speed of request processing is required.

It is worth recalling that in April of this year, BNB Chain already carried out a large-scale update called Pascal. At that time, the goal of the hard fork was to increase the network's compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which simplified the development of cross-chain applications and increased their performance.

BNB Chain continues to consistently improve the key characteristics of the network, focusing on speed, scalability, and convenience for developers and users. Reducing the block time directly affects the efficiency of DeFi protocols and gaming platforms that are actively developing on the basis of this ecosystem.

Thus, thanks to the Maxwell hard fork and new BEP proposals, BNB Chain strengthens its position among the largest blockchains, offering increasingly faster and more reliable solutions for decentralized applications.
