Five departments in China, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, have published a three-year action plan for industrial innovation and metaverse development called "Yuanverse".

It is reported that by 2025, Yuanverse will achieve breakthroughs in technology, industry, application, management, and become an important factor in the growth of the digital economy. Over time, the industrial scale will expand, the layout will be reasonable, and the technical system will expand.

What will appear in Yuanverse
Chinese authorities plan to develop a cultural tourism metaverse to provide products and services such as digital collections, digital guide services, cultural sites, tourist attractions and areas, and festivals.

“Create new business formats such as digital performing arts and cloud tourism, and create an exciting space for digital and smart cultural tourism,” it said.

Metaverse users will also have access to 3D product models, digital shopping guides and virtual shopping malls. Moreover, radio and television will appear in the virtual world, and over time they will create a new model of television of the future in order to expand the capabilities of the media service and “enrich the spiritual world of people.”

State metaverse in China
In May, the capital of eastern China's Jiangsu province, Nanjing, opened a government-run technology and application innovation platform aimed at developing the metaverse across the country. The government metaverse platform is led by Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST).

In addition, the authorities of the Zhejiang province in China unveiled a plan for the development of the center of the metaverse, for which they allocated $28.7 billion. This region is going to create an entire industry of virtual worlds by 2025. To achieve this, local authorities have included in the plan the incubation of 10 industry leaders and 50 companies focused on several key technologies related to the metaverse.

In addition to Zhejiang, several major cities are developing their own metaverses, including Shanghai, Hangzhou and Wuhan.
