India will analyze and determine its own position regarding cryptocurrencies in the coming months, Coindesk reports, citing the words of the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs Ajay Seth.
During a conversation with reporters at the G20 summit, Ajay Seth noted that the country plans to analyze what world leaders have agreed on regarding an acceptable system of rules for cryptocurrencies.
Based on their statements, a decision will be made as to what policy is reasonable for India.
“If you want to ban cryptocurrency, let’s ban it. But if other countries do not ban, it will be extremely difficult to ban one. Now that the discussion has begun, we need to continue and try to reach consensus on regulatory issues,” the official told reporters.
American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase plans to stop providing all services to some users in India.
The country also called for the creation of unified global rules for regulating cryptocurrencies.
