An unknown user has created 21,877 wallets on the zkSync Era network and even launched his own decentralized exchange (DEX). This was reported by a DeFi analyst under the pseudonym Lingland 09.
He claims that the attacker created all these wallets, filled them with a small amount of Ethereum and launched his own closed-source GEM token.
Then, according to the expert, he deployed DEX. At the time of writing, the platform has recorded over 160,000 transactions, according to Explorer zkSync.
The attacker added 80 ETH to the GEM liquidity pool, increasing the value of the asset, and exchanged it for wETH, according to Lingland 09.
According to the expert, all transactions were carried out by a bot specially written for this purpose.
The costs for each wallet amounted to only $1.5-2, the analyst claims. At the same time, they account for 10 transactions with a volume of $10,000. All transactions were scattered over time, which allows maintaining the illusion of the activity of real users.
Lingland 09 believes that the attacker created a scheme to maximize profits from a possible airdrop in zkSync Era.
