The non-profit organization Binance Charity will provide assistance to residents of Morocco affected by the earthquake. The fund will donate up to $3 million in BNB to Binance users living in areas of the country affected by the disaster.
According to the structure, user identification will be based on proof of address (POA) completed before September 9, 2023. Financial support will be provided to Binance clients from the province of Marrakesh-Safi, which was hit the hardest.
The organization clarified that users who complete the POA procedure before the specified date will receive $100 in BNB to their Binance account. In addition, Binance Charity will list:
$25 in BNB for Marrakech-Safi customers who complete the POA between September 9 and September 30, 2023;
$10 in BNB for users who live in other regions of Morocco and regularly use the exchange's services.
According to Binance Charity, about 70,000 residents of the country will receive financial assistance. The fund will begin disbursing funds on September 12, 2023.
“The consequences of the earthquake for the people of Morocco are devastating. We hope we can provide support to those affected,” said Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao.
The charity has created a public address to which financial assistance can be transferred. Donations to the Emergency Earthquake Appeal are accepted in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies: BNB, Ethereum, USDC, USDT and BUSD stablecoins.
In April 2022, Binance Charity donated $500,000 to Ukrainians on the front lines. In February 2023, he prepared a relief package for Turkish users affected by the earthquake.
