Sony Network Communications has announced the creation of a new venture with Startale Labs. The new organization will be focused on promoting Web3.
The counterparty is expected to enter the market in mid-September 2023 under the name Sony Network Communications Labs. The goal of this project is to create a modern and high-performance Web3 infrastructure.
This is how Startale Labs CEO Sota Watanabe describes it:
“This could be a game changer for Web3, and here's why. The Base network from the Coinbase exchange has been very successful so far. Can you imagine what would happen if Sony, a company six times the size of Coinbase, launched its own blockchain?”
According to Watanabe, Sony Network Communications Labs will also develop value-added solutions in the areas of games, music, images, entertainment technologies, networking and financial services.
In June 2023, Sony invested $3.5 million in Startale Labs. Prior to this, the parties launched a joint Web3 incubator for promising startups.
Startale Labs is an infrastructure provider. Prior to this partnership, the company worked on the Astar Network project.
