Former President Donald Trump said that Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is not doing his job. Moreover, the politician was surprised when he re-occupied the chair of the head of the regulator.
“I think he is late all the time. Whether it was good or bad, he was always slow to make decisions. I was surprised when he was re-elected. Maybe it was because I didn't like him. I don't think he can handle it. I put pressure on him, if I didn’t do this, inflation would be higher [when Trump was president], ”the politician emphasized.
During the interview, Trump called Joe Biden's policies a "disgrace." According to him, during his term, inflation remained within 1.9%, while under the current head of state, this figure seems unattainable, he stressed.
“Our country is going to hell. And we don't do anything. We have power, but it is weakening. I'm talking about our currency," Trump said. "But look what's happening to it now that other countries aren't using it. China is seeking to replace the dollar with the yuan. Under us [the Trump administration], that was simply unthinkable.”
According to the politician, the reason for the current high inflation lies in the energy market. Trump said the offshore drilling moratorium was a mistake.
The ex-president also touched upon Biden's physical condition. According to him, he cannot lead the country when he is barely able to “link two sentences”, and in order to go down the stairs, he needs help.
