Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong will discuss decentralized science (DeSci) at Sora Summit, a Web3 conference hosted by Sora Ventures, scheduled for later this year.
Armstrong, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry, is actively promoting DeSci through his co-founded startup ResearchHub. This platform allows researchers to openly share their work and receive rewards in cryptocurrency for advancing scientific knowledge.
Noted experts will join the Coinbase CEO, including Patrick Joyce, co-founder and COO of ResearchHub, and Jason Fang, managing partner of Sora Ventures. They will talk about the future prospects of this growing sub-sector and its key role in the development of Web3.
In addition, two-panel discussions will further enlighten the audience on the subject, and a DeSci meeting will be held at Sora Ventures' Taipei headquarters to facilitate insightful conversations among industry stakeholders.
Apart from DeSci, other important topics of the summit also include the NFT utility, DeFi infrastructure, and developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
The Sora Summit, scheduled for December 16, will conclude Taipei Blockchain Week. The event boasts a line-up of over 100 speakers and over 1,000 attendees are expected.
DeSci
DeSci, a new aspect of Web3, is focused on open source research and development funding. This approach protects the independence of researchers in their scientific research.
DeSci uses Web3 principles such as Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) and tokenization to attract investors. They come together to support various scientific projects, promising rewards for the successful implementation of these missions.
While DeSci remains a relatively nascent field, it has already attracted the attention of Web3 venture capital firms such as Sora Ventures and other high-profile investors.
