Former Brazil star football player Ronaldinho has claimed in a congressional hearing that his likeness was misused to advertise a possible crypto-currency scam.
On August 31, the ex-footballer appeared before a parliamentary committee, where he denied his involvement in the 18kRonaldinho scheme, which promised a 2% daily yield from cryptocurrencies.
Ronaldinho stated that he had never collaborated with this company and that it illegally used his name and photo. He also considers himself a victim of this scheme.
During the hearing, pictures of the 18kRonaldinho marketing campaign were presented, which showed the defendant.
The ex-footballer said that these photos were taken as part of an agreement he signed in July 2019 with a subsidiary specializing in the sale of watches. However, this agreement was canceled in October of the same year.
Also, the chairman of the commission asked the ex-football player about the lawsuit for $61 million and whether he intends to compensate those who invested money in the company, to which the latter answered with silence.
