Unknown persons were able to gain control over the Twitter of the project, which is in the top 40 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization
The Twitter account of the Aptos Network blockchain has been hacked by unknown attackers. This was reported by the developers of the project. How exactly the hackers were able to gain access to the page is unclear.
Aptos Labs assures that the non-profit organization Aptos Foundation did not suffer in any way from the actions of intruders. The Aptos Network blockchain is operating as before. It is noted that having gained access to the page, the scammers published a tweet under the guise of a fake distribution of APT tokens. Aptos Labs urged users not to click on links.
At the time of writing, there are no tweets on the Aptos Network page. It's unclear if the developers were able to regain access to the page. In the project's telegram group, users complain about the loss of their tokens, but the scale of the fraud is unclear.
News about the hacking of Aptos Twitter did not affect the rate of the APT token in any way. At the time of writing, it continues to trade in a daily plus of not a couple of percent at $7.2. APT has a market capitalization of $1.5 billion, according to CoinMarketCap
Recall that Aptos is a young blockchain created by the former developers of the Diem project, a digital currency from Meta (banned in the Russian Federation), positioning itself as the "Solana killer". The blockchain is written in the Move programming language, which was created at Meta specifically for the Diem project. The project was supported by many major exchanges, including Coinbase, Binance, and the collapsed FTX exchange
At the start of the project, it turned out that the blockchain cannot provide the declared throughput, and 80% of all tokens in circulation are controlled by the project team and large investors. As a result, the token fell by 50% in a couple of days and could not recover from the fall for a long time
